About Me
I live in the beautiful city of York, England with my gorgeous wife, beautiful daughter and two wonderful cats. I’m in my early forties and work as a self-employed personal trainer.
I really love exercise and am a very keen triathlete and middle distance runner, and am completing training for a number of races this season. I also love listening to loads of music and a bit of reading when there’s time; you can see more information on some of my favourites under the Inspiration section.
So what about the photos and the site then?
This is a renewed venture for me after many years without a camera; I started taking pictures when I was at school, but stopped in my mid-twenties. I enjoy the whole thing of photography and am really just experimenting again. So what you find here is purely amateur doodling for my own amusement - if you enjoy them, then that’s a bonus!
For those of you interested in the equipment and software, I use the following kit:
Nikon- This brand is highly reliable and very tough, although it certainly isn’t the cheapest on the market. My camera bag includes a Nikon D70 with three Nikon lenses (18-70mm zoom, 70-300mm zoom and 60mm Micro (Macro)), which all of these pictures have been taken with.
Manfrotto- Again, this brand is highly reliable and very tough, I own a 190PRO tripod, which is lightweight enough to lug about and yet still sturdy.
WordPress- This is a fantastic piece of blogging software that is Open Source (ie, contributed to by many, many designers and free). I am currently using version 2.5 with a number of additional plugins, including:
Random File (version 1.0) for the random quote; thanks to Scott Reilly
CQS (version 2.7) for the custom posts per page; thanks to Matt Read
Spam Karma (version 2.3) for eradicating spam comments; thanks to Dr Dave
WordPress Database Backup (version 2.1.5); thanks to Austin Matzko
IImage Browser (version 1.5.2) for uploading images to the site; thanks to Malyfred
Panic Coda- This is the software I use for hand coding of CSS and XHTML. This is an excellent piece of engineering, rolling a text editor, CSS editor and FTP uploading all in to one, thereby really improving my workflow.
Adobe Fireworks- This is the software I use for image manipulation. I tend not to undertake much post-processing of images, preferring to see if I can get the image I want straight from the camera.
Apple- And this is all lovingly put together using the remarkable and highly reliable hardware and software from Apple.
Why “Extrajection”?
extrajection n 1. the symbolic representation of a psychic process or feeling as, for example, writing a poem about anger. 2. (psychoanalysis) defence mechanism consisting of the projection of one’s own feelings, characteristics or processes onto another person.
Origin: L. Ex, out of, + jacio, to cast.
